Stuart Lornie
Stuart brings experience from the offshore and subsea industry and a strong belief in creating practical support networks for the people who work in demanding marine environments.
Even Keel was created to give people working across the offshore and marine industries a place to connect, talk openly and look out for one another.
Offshore work creates strong crews and strong friendships. But the same lifestyle can bring long rotations, time away from family, pressure, isolation and challenges that are difficult to talk about.
Even Keel was founded because we believe support should be built around the realities of the industry — not around assumptions about it. Sometimes people don't need a lecture or a label. They need someone who understands, a reason to get together and a safe place to talk.
We are building a community through informal peer support and practical activities — Even Keel Days, social events, outdoor activities, family days and opportunities for people across the marine industry to meet outside the working environment.
We also want to make it easier to find professional support when it is needed. Even Keel is not a replacement for qualified mental-health care; our role is to help people take the first step and make sure they know they are not on their own.
Even Keel was founded by Stuart Lornie, Dean Barden and Fraser Young, with a shared connection to the offshore and marine environment and a desire to create something positive for the people working within it.
Stuart brings experience from the offshore and subsea industry and a strong belief in creating practical support networks for the people who work in demanding marine environments.
Dean is part of the founding team behind Even Keel, helping shape the community approach and the events designed to bring people together away from the pressures of offshore work.
Fraser is part of the founding team committed to building a supportive offshore community where people can connect, share experiences and look out for each other.
Our aim is to grow Even Keel carefully, responsibly and with the people we support at the centre of everything we do.
From golf and fishing to fitness, family events and informal gatherings, we want to create regular opportunities for people to connect.
We want to work with responsible employers and marine companies that share our belief that looking after people is part of a healthy offshore industry.
